May, the much-anticipated month that the red carpet arrives on the Croisette in Cannes… The world’s most famous European Film Festival began on 11th May and will close on Sunday 22nd. You can always guarantee elegance and super glam surprises at Cannes.
“The originality of declining cuts certainly win this season. They look effortless and easy when in actual fact are a lot more tough to execute,” says Mauro Galzignato, Art Director of new hairfashion collection The Italian Touch. “They look as if they are self-made and simple, but in actual fact are extremely elegant.”
This season’s musts: tails and braids, which have enhanced the very original semi, first of all sported by Gaia Weiss: a hairstyle that replaces the classic chignon is a braid that starts low, at the nape and reaches the summit, ending with a little volume. Then, on the third day of red carpet charm, we laid witness to the braid of Juliette Binoche, with its “long and glossy finish.” And that of Maud Wyler, worn sideways, as well as the loose waves which are carried laterally by Naomi Watts, from the beautiful Amal Clooney, and in a more structured version on the head of the charming Julia Roberts, for an ultra-feminine look.
Style icon Victoria Beckham gives a lively touch to her hairstyle, playing down the cropped look with two side tufts, and then there’s Jessica Chastain’s lob, very in-season with its subtle waves.
“The trend,” adds Mauro. “Is the one that has been confirmed for summer 2016: long and medium cuts, voluminous and glamorous look, enhanced by blonde nuances tending from cold and sandy, with dark tints and shades inspired by the seventies, with messy styled waves.”
