#10 - Crows and Ravens
July/Aug 2007

In this issue, we’re getting in a flap about crows and ravens. These birds are quite common, but most of us don't give them a second thought. They are some of the brainiest birds around and, we think, some of the most interesting, too. We visit a couple of scientists who are experts on crows, and answer some pressing questions, like Do crow “teenagers” have to help around the nest? Do ravens really like shiny things? and Can a crow bark like a dog?

Issue 10 isn't all about these brainy black birds though. There are stories of petrified lightning bolts and monkeys that copycat. We give you the scientific facts behind everyday things like toothpaste, pill bugs, and belly buttons. As well, just in time for summer, we give you some ideas for a few great summertime activities, such watching birds and Perseid meteor showers.

Issue 10 of KNOW will give you something to crow about!
