For most people, an empty plastic pop bottle would go right into the recycling bin. But for author Lynn Brunelle, this trash makes a perfect mini science lab. Using a 2-litre pop bottle and other simple equipment, Brunelle describes 79 science experiments. Activities cover a range of topics, from forces and motion, to human biology. Check out this kit if you’re curious about the Burping Bottle or the Soy Sauce Submarine.

I think this kit was well put together. There was a good mix of easy and hard experiments. My Mum and Dad thought that some activities used up a lot of household ingredients, though. I tried 11 experiments. Some were more interesting than others. The Raisin Water Ballet was very interesting because you could see the raisins going up and down with the bubbles all over them. They looked like submarines collecting rubble from a lost city. I had a lot of fun using the kit. Sometimes it made me jump up and down with excitement.
