Dogs can be many things: hunters, herders, workers, friends. In this book, you will learn about 40 breeds of dogs, from the Japanese Akita to the Australian Cattle Dog. The authors explain why dogs were bred for particular traits, such as the ability to herd or to smell especially well. Bright, interesting illustrations show the dogs in action. This book will be especially useful if your family is considering a new pet. Which breed is the right one for you?

I love dogs and thats why this book looked very interesting to me. The illustrations are very colourful and make the book inviting to read. One of the best things about this book was that it gives a really good description of the different breeds. I was amazed to learn there are hundreds of dog breeds and that they all evolved from one species, the wolf. I especially like the page on the terriers of Scotland because my dog is a terrier mix. My one word to describe this book is fascinating! I would give it a score of nine out of 10.
