This beautifully illustrated book tells the story of a great white fish — a sturgeon — living in the Fraser River. Sturgeons lived when dinosaurs roamed Earth. Although dinosaurs became extinct, sturgeons survived. In Tale of a Great White Fish, we follow the life of one sturgeon, from the beginning of her life in 1828 right through to 2005, when she is 177 years old. Yes, sturgeons can really live that long! Renné Benoit, the creator of KNOW’s Great Moments in Science, painted the lovely watercolours in this book.

Some people think sturgeons are lake monsters. I wanted to know more about this monster fish. I learned a lot. Sturgeons grow to be very BIG and very OLD. I was very happy to learn that there are laws protecting these big old fishes. I would not want these amazing fishes to become extinct. I would like to see a sturgeon one day. I liked the pictures and the sturgeon facts at the end of the book. I also liked the size of the book. It is nice and big. This book was AMAZING.
