If you think math is for the birds, then think again. With the help of lively, colourful birds, You Can, Toucan, Math uses short word-problem poems to make math fun. Each page poses a math problem that involves birds. Here’s one:
Two pelicans fishing. Each catches a bunch.
How many fish in the pelicans’ lunch
If one catches seven and the other eleven?
The pictures help you solve the problem and the solutions are explained in an easy-to-understand way.

The book looked inviting because I like toucans a lot, and I also like math. Math is fun for me, and I liked how the author used rhymes in the book. I learned that a lot of words rhyme. The math wasn’t too hard or too easy. I liked how they used lots of animals, but I wish the animals looked more realistic. The one word I would use to describe this book is “fun”! I would give this book a score of eight out of 10.
