How do bird migrate at night?
Birds migrate when they move between their winter and summer homes. Many birds migrate at night because they need to feed during the daytime.
At night, birds find their way using stars. For migratory birds in the northern part of the world (the northern hemisphere), the most important star is the North Star. When they are very young, birds learn to use the North Star as a reference point. Birds that migrate at night often fly above the clouds where it is clear enough to see the stars.
