The exhibition entitled “Elliott Erwitt: dogs are like humans, only with more hair” was inaugurated in the Casa dei Carraresi rooms, in collaboration with the Fondazione Cassamarca from Treviso and Magnum Photos. For the first time, the selection of work is exhibited in Italy, grouping over 80 photographs, videos and other material dedicated to this theme.
The curiosity about this selection is the way in which the images were made, from the dogs’ point of view, with the owner showing only a foot or a calf. The dog is often portrayed in funny poses in the photographs, with Erwitt manages with a precise method: he played a trumpet before shooting, or emitted strong barks, provoking a reaction in the animal, catching it in a totally natural and spontaneous manner. “Dogs are understanding creatures, present all over the world, for me, they are interesting people with more hair”.
