“Architecture is the masterly volumes grouped under the light,” wrote Le Corbusier in 1923. This year, fifty years after his death, and fifty years ago began the production made in Italy of one of his many ingenious creations.
It was in 1964 when Cesare and Franco Cassina signed the contract which authorized them to produce the first four models designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand. With the LC Series of 1965 was born the Collection The Masters, which later became the cornerstone of Italian design.
Curve tubular instead of welds at 90 °, padding of polyurethane foam to give comfort to the cushions. Design object and elegant lines that are now history of world architecture. For fifty years, the LC are among the items most imitated in the world. “The modern age, the old man back into fashion,” wrote Leo Longanesi. The great classics instead never cease to be the trend.
